The weather made its way too through sun, rain, mist and fog, and\u00a0photographic opportunities were limited.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2278\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2278\" class=\"wp-image-2278 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2-2.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/2-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2278\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Petrol stop &#8211; is this the smallest branch of Banco Santander ever?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>One final stop in Entre Lagos to get petrol in case the border was closed (with the current work to rule this was a possibility)\u00a0and after one final church \u2013one of the most beautiful we saw\u2013 we were at the border.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2277\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2277\" class=\"wp-image-2277 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3-2.jpg\" alt=\"3\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2277\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our last (and possibly most beautiful) wooden church<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As we drove back across the Andes evidence of the last eruption of the Pueyhue volcano was everywhere, with slowly rejuvenating trees and volcanic ash covering the sides of the twisting mountain road.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2275 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/5-2.jpg\" alt=\"5\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/5-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/5-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Chilean frontier post was a long way before the actual political border and we passed through immediately with the minimum of bureaucracy, an immense relief.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2276\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2276\" class=\"wp-image-2276 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/4-2.jpg\" alt=\"4\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/4-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/4-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2276\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chilean immigration and customs post at Puyehue<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After\u00a0a long, mountainous (and misty) drive through no man&#8217;s land we found ourselves back on Argentina soil.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2274\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2274\" class=\"wp-image-2274 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/6-2.jpg\" alt=\"6\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/6-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/6-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2274\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8230; and entering Argentina<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Entry into Argentina was equally smooth although we got drenched walking from where we had to leave the car to the immigration and customs offices. And again on the way back. Still, one advantage of the driving rain was that no one was interested in standing in the rail to inspect the contents of our car.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2273\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2273\" class=\"wp-image-2273 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7-2.jpg\" alt=\"7\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2273\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Broom lining the highways<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The sun came out briefly as we drove back into Argentina, reflecting the bright yellow of the broom lining the roads. \u00a0Occasional patches of lupins were beginning to show.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2271\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2271\" class=\"wp-image-2271 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/8-2.jpg\" alt=\"8\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/8-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/8-2-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2271\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The worst coffee in the world?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We stopped for lunch in Villa La Angostura. We shared an unusual pizza (pink pizza base with\u00a0venison and wild boar topping) which was ok,\u00a0but the coffee was absolutely undrinkable. I&#8217;d better not give the name of the eatery.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2270\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2270\" class=\"wp-image-2270 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/9-1.jpg\" alt=\"9\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/9-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.eayrs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/9-1-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2270\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arriving in El Bols\u00f3n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On and on we drove along twisting mountain roads through driving rain. We had arranged to sleep in El Bols\u00f3n, a sleepy town where 1960s hippies <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taringa.net\/posts\/info\/13716439\/La-historia-de-los-Hippies-en-El-Bolson.html\">decamped<\/a> in large numbers.
